Forecast Discussion
A few clouds will begin to increase late tonight ahead of a strong, arctic cold front. Friday will be a notch warmer than today, although clouds will continue rolling in early. A couple light showers will accompany the cold front during Friday afternoon and evening, followed by the arrival of colder air and some snow flurries for late Friday night and into Saturday.
Flurries will end later on Saturday, with light snow accumulations likely across mountain areas closer to the Tennessee state line. Saturday night will be the coldest night since early January around western North Carolina. Sunday features bright sunshine, but cold temperatures.
A gradual rebound in temperatures will commence next week. The next weather system will slide in by Monday night or Tuesday, with the arrival of our next precipitation chances. There could be enough remnant cold air to support a wintry mix Monday night into early Tuesday around the mountains.
